Uber launched its Moto service in Shillong which will offer riders a convenient and affordable two-wheeler mobility solution to move around the city. The launch reaffirms the company’s commitment to the region and highlights Uber Moto as a key growth driver as part of its ‘India to Bharat’ strategy to further increase its national footprint. It will benefit both riders and drivers.
The Secretary and Commissioner of Transport Shri M.R. Synrem felicitated women drivers who have signed up for the new service. They also received tokens of appreciation from Uber representatives. Helmets were also distributed to the bike taxi operators. The steps to book an Uber Moto are – (1) Download the Uber app for iOS or Android from Play Store (2) Then create an Uber account by giving your personal details like name, phone number, etc. (3) Then select Uber MOTO in the app. (4) Like every other app enter the pickup location.
(5) Then choose the payment method and request a ride (6) You will receive driver details like name, photo, and details of the motorbike. The driver will reach your location. The driver will have one helmet for the rider. After reaching the destination, you need to make payment by cash, credit/debit card, or mobile wallet. You will receive an electronic receipt via the Uber app.

Ali Armanur Rahman said, “We would like to express our gratitude to the state’s transport commissioner for his encouragement and being present today for the launch, encouraging more female drivers to explore economic opportunities through the Uber platform.”
