Two army soldiers were killed and four others, including an officer, were injured after terrorists planted an explosive device during an encounter with security forces in Kandi area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Friday morning. According to army officials, the terrorists belong to the same group that ambushed an army truck on April 20 killed at least five soldiers and injured another.
“Based on specific information about the presence of terrorists in the Kandi forest of the Rajouri sector, a joint operation was launched. A search party makes contact with a group of terrorists holed up in a cave. The area is rocky and densely vegetated with steep hills,” the Indian Army said in a statement.
According to the statement, additional teams from the vicinity have been directed to the site of the encounter. “The injured personnel have been shifted to Command Hospital in Udhampur,” it added.
