Turkish Airlines partners with Google to launch smart baggage tracking experience

Turkish Airlines has partnered with Google to introduce a next-generation baggage locating experience, becoming a launch partner for Google’s new Find Hub “share item location” feature aimed at improving the airline’s baggage recovery process. The collaboration marks another step in the airline’s digital transformation efforts to enhance passenger experience. Under the new system, passengers travelling with a Find Hub-compatible tracker tag attached to their baggage can generate a secure location link through the Find Hub app and share it with Turkish Airlines baggage representatives. The link provides precise, real-time location updates, allowing airline teams to locate and return misplaced or delayed luggage more quickly and efficiently.

Passengers can create the secure link by selecting their missing item in the Find Hub app and tapping the “share item location” option. The link automatically expires after seven days, sharing can be stopped at any time, and access is disabled once the bag is returned. All shared location data remains encrypted to ensure passenger privacy.

Turkish Airlines Ground Operations Vice President Mehmet Yıldırım said the airline continues to invest in advanced digital solutions to improve the end-to-end travel experience. Google’s Vice President of Engineering Erik Kay added that Find Hub leverages a crowdsourced network of over a billion Android devices to help users locate lost belongings worldwide. In Kolkata, such technology-driven services are becoming increasingly important as international travel from eastern India grows steadily. Enhanced baggage tracking systems are expected to improve passenger confidence and strengthen airline competitiveness in key travel hubs like Kolkata. Established in 1933, Turkish Airlines operates a fleet of 531 aircraft and flies to 356 destinations across 132 countries, making it one of the most extensive global airline networks.
