Turkish Airlines has expanded its global footprint by launching flights to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, marking a significant boost for travelers from Kolkata who increasingly rely on Istanbul as a key transit hub. With this addition, Cambodia becomes the airline’s 132nd country and the 11th city it serves in Southeast Asia.
The new route strengthens commercial ties between Türkiye and Cambodia and expands the carrier’s Far East network to 20 cities. For Kolkata passengers, the development offers improved one-stop access to Cambodia; an emerging tourism and business destination known for its cultural heritage and growing trade links. The airline remains the only European carrier flying to Phnom Penh.
Flights from Istanbul to Phnom Penh operate three times weekly on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays—while return flights depart on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi said the expansion reflects the airline’s commitment to strengthening connections with strategic destinations and offering new travel opportunities. Kolkata travel agents say demand for Southeast Asian destinations continues to rise, and the new route provides better options for corporate travellers, students and holidaymakers. As part of a launch offer, tickets booked until February 10, 2026, are available from USD 699 from Istanbul to Phnom Penh and USD 679 in the reverse direction.
