Turkish Airlines has announced a major digital leap with its partnership with Samsung to launch the Smart Tagged Baggage Service, enabling passengers to track their luggage through Samsung’s Smart Things Find technology. Starting December 1, travellers can monitor bags equipped with Galaxy SmartTag, ensuring faster and more efficient location tracking in cases of misplacement or delay. With this move, Turkish Airlines becomes the first airline globally to integrate SmartThings technologies into baggage tracking, reaffirming its commitment to digital transformation with a passenger-first approach. Passengers will also be able to upload photos of their bags in the SmartThings Find app for easier identification. The airline plans to expand SmartThings-based location solutions across future digital services.
Speaking about the collaboration, Turkish Airlines Chief Information Technologies Officer Kerem Kızıltunç said the partnership underscores the airline’s industry leadership as it continues its digitalization journey. Samsung’s Jaeyeon Jung added that the company aims to expand SmartThings Find experiences through cross-industry collaborations.
In Kolkata, the new Smart Tagged Baggage Service is likely to be welcomed by frequent fliers who transit through Istanbul to Europe and the US. Travel operators in the city expect the feature to boost passenger confidence, especially among business travellers and premium holiday planners seeking hassle-free international connections.
