Truecaller launches AI-powered message IDs to tackle SMS clutter across India

Truecaller has introduced a major update in digital communication with the launch of its AI-powered Message IDs, now available in India and 30 other countries. This new feature uses advanced artificial intelligence and Large Language Models (LLMs) to identify and summarize critical SMS messages—such as OTPs, bank alerts, delivery updates, and flight itineraries—while ensuring users’ data stays on their device.

With real-time notifications and instant message categorization, users no longer need to sift through spam or worry about missing important texts. The tool is language-inclusive, working seamlessly with regional languages like Hindi as well as global tongues such as Swahili and Spanish. Notably, it is available to both premium and non-premium users.

In Guwahati, where smartphone usage has surged in recent years, the feature is expected to significantly ease the communication burden for users who rely on SMS for banking, logistics, and government notifications. Digital marketers and local businesses in Guwahati also view the innovation as a trust-building tool, especially with the introduction of the Green Tick, which verifies messages from legitimate businesses. “With AI in Message IDs, we’re making SMS smarter and safer,” said John Joseph, Product Director at Truecaller. The move is seen as a leap forward in organizing digital communication for millions.
