Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bengaluru-based Ohmium International, a leading PEM hydrogen technology provider, to co-develop integrated, scalable Green Hydrogen-based power solutions. This partnership marks a significant milestone in Toyota’s mission toward carbon neutrality and aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission to achieve energy independence by 2047 and net-zero emissions by 2070.
The collaboration aims to combine Ohmium’s modular PEM electrolyzer systems with Toyota’s fuel cell modules for the development of microgrid solutions. These will be suited for applications in data centers, remote industrial zones, and decentralized energy generation. TKM will offer system integration support and technical expertise, while Ohmium will lead in product design and performance testing.
The announcement has sparked interest among green infrastructure developers and policymakers. With push for clean energy and eco-tourism, localized hydrogen-based solutions are being seen as a viable addition to the region’s sustainable development goals. Opportunities in green transport and off-grid power systems could see emerge as an early adopter of hydrogen technologies.
