Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) was honoured with the CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2022 for its commitment to sustainable business practices. It was presented by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways.Toyota announced its six aspirational global environment challenges in 2015, aiming to achieve “Carbon Neutrality by 2050” and “Net Zero Carbon in Manufacturing Operations” by 2035.
The CII-ITC Sustainability Awards recognize and reward businesses that strive to be more sustainable and inclusive. TKM has been recognised for its efforts to conserve the environment by improving products and processes, as well as proactively working towards developing a future society in harmony with nature. TKM has three initiatives: Green Wave Project, Education for Sustainable Development, and Today for Tomorrow Project.
Green Wave Project aims to promote mass plantation activities, Education for Sustainable Development aims to promote learnings and good practices on sustainable development, and Today for Tomorrow Project aims to benefit 8,000 villagers from 6 nearby villages. Executive Vice President of Toyota Kirloskar Motor – Mr. Raju B. Ketkale said “This award underscores our continued pursuit of sustainable development, showcasing our various eco initiatives and contributions towards creating a harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.”
