Toyota Innova HyCross’s 5-star Bharat NCAP rating signals shift toward safer mobility

Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s InnovaHyCross has earned a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP), a move expected to reshape consumer preferences and strengthen Toyota’s position in India’s evolving auto landscape. The recognition, received in New Delhi from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, underscores the rising emphasis on structural safety, advanced features, and sustainable design in India’s passenger vehicle segment.

Built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the HyCross is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), six airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and hybrid powertrain technology. The MPV has already surpassed 1.35 lakh unit sales since its 2022 launch, driven by rising demand for safer, fuel-efficient family vehicles.

The announcement has had a notable impact. With consumers prioritizing durability and efficiency in long-distance and intercity travel, Toyota dealers in the region report a surge in interest. The rating is expected to influence market dynamics nationwide, accelerating adoption of advanced safety and sustainability standards.
