Tinder has launched a new feature called Double Date, aimed at transforming solo swiping into a fun, low-pressure group experience. The feature allows users to team up with a friend and match with other pairs, offering a new way to socialize and connect in the dating world.
Building on previous tools like Tinder Matchmaker™ and Share My Date, Double Date brings a shared adventure to the forefront of online dating. According to Tinder, women using the feature during testing were three times more likely to hit “Like” on a pair versus a single profile. It also resulted in 35% more messages being exchanged in group chats compared to traditional one-on-one chats.
In a strong indication of Gen Z appeal, nearly 90% of Double Date profiles came from users under 29, aligning with Tinder’s global user base that is predominantly Gen Z and younger millennials. In Kolkata, the feature has sparked curiosity among young professionals and students who view dating as a social experience. Local dating coaches note that Double Date aligns well with the city’s group-centric culture, potentially boosting Tinder’s user engagement in the eastern metro. A global rollout of Double Date is planned for July.
