The first meal of the day is what keeps you going. This is why it is very imperative to make sure you eat right to maintain your energy levels, stay healthy and have a wholesome meal to keep yourself from munching on unhealthy snacks throughout the day. Ritika Samaddar, Regional Head-Dietetics, Max Healthcare, Delhi suggested three healthy and yet tasty foods that you can add and make it a wholesome meal. These are: Almonds, Avocado and Baked Sweet Potato.
Ritika Samaddar said, “Start your day right by adding a handful of almonds to your first meal. Almonds are rich in Vitamin B2, Vitamin E, magnesium, and phosphorus, nutrients known for their role in energy release from food. Research suggests that a daily serving of almonds (30 grams/23 almonds) may improve both short-term and long-term markers of blood sugar control in those with uncomplicated type-2 diabetes. So, include almonds in your cereal, or add them to your bowl of oats/porridge or just munch on a handful to enjoy a tasty breakfast”
She said, “Avocado is prized with high nutrition value. Avocados are profusely loaded with vitamins C, K and B6 along with small amounts of magnesium, manganese, copper, zinc and a lot more. They have zero cholesterol and are low in saturated fat. Avocados can make a healthy yet tasty option for your breakfast as they contain 20 different vitamins and minerals.”
Ritika Samaddar also said, “Keep your blood pressure in control by adding sweet potatoes to your breakfast. They are known to have copious levels of potassium which help maintain the rhythm of the heart. It is also beneficial in maintaining normal functioning of the brain along with the central nervous system.”
