Thierry Mathou highlights conservation efforts in Sikkim’s Himalayan Zoological Park

French Ambassador to India, Thierry Mathou, visited the Himalayan Zoological Park in Sikkim’s Bulbuley area on Wednesday as part of his recent tour. Mathou and his delegation were warmly received by Pradeep Kumar, Secretary and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) for the Forest and Environment Department, along with other officials, who introduced them to various conservation projects underway.

One key initiative presented was the “My Child from the Wild” program, an animal adoption scheme designed to foster public involvement in wildlife conservation. The French Consul General’s office in Kolkata has shown particular interest in supporting Red Panda conservation efforts as part of this program.

Ambassador Mathou’s visit, which took place from November 10 to 13, underscores growing international collaboration in conservation efforts aimed at protecting Sikkim’s unique wildlife and forest ecosystems.
