The Territorial Army Recruitment Rally in Solmara, Tezpur, is successfully concluded by the Indian Army

A Landmark Example of Civil–Military Synergy and Professional Excellence

The Indian Army’s Territorial Army Recruitment Rally was successfully conducted at Meghna Stadium, Solmara Military Station, Tezpur, from 15 November to 01 December 2025. This event saw an impressive turnout of 7,282 aspiring recruits from various regions, including Assam, Meghalaya, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, reflecting the youth’s strong motivation to serve the nation, especially from remote and high-altitude areas. Organized by the 121 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) The Garhwal Rifles under the Eastern Command, the rally faced significant challenges due to its location, approximately 1,200 kilometers from their base in Kolkata. Despite these hurdles, the battalion showcased exceptional professionalism, coordination, and logistical efficiency, successfully managing the recruitment process over the two weeks. Key tenets of the Indian Army’s recruitment ethos such as fairness, transparency, and discipline were upheld throughout the event.

Recognizing the long wait times associated with documentation and medical checks, the organizers offered extensive administrative support for shortlisted candidates. They provided free meals, drinking water, rest areas, Candidate Assistance Counters, and easily accessible photocopying services, all aimed at facilitating the candidates during the recruitment process. Additional measures included the “Project Nischay Jeet,”which provided motivational guidance to candidates who did not pass the Physical Fitness Test, encouraging continued effort and informing them of similar recruitment opportunities in other Northeastern regions. Lieutenant General Gambhir Singh, General Officer Commanding 4 Corps, visited the rally on 29 November 2025, observing the youth-centric and transparent processes in place.

The rally’s success was greatly enhanced by exemplary civil-military cooperation. Mr. Ananda Kr Das, the District Commissioner of Sonitpur, ensured effective oversight through an Executive Magistrate, while the Health Department, led by Mr. Biman Kumar, deployed medical teams for ongoing support. The Sonitpur Police handled security and traffic management, and the Tezpur Municipal Corporation took charge of sanitation and essential services. Moreover, the dedicated support from local landowners was instrumental in accommodating large crowds effectively. Overall, the Territorial Army Recruitment Rally has presented valuable opportunities for thousands of youth from Northeast India and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, strengthening national integration and exemplifying the commitment and service ethos of both the Indian and Territorial Armies.
