The new government will determine the future of VCDCs in Bitcoin, according to Himanta

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said the fate of the Village Council Development Committees (VCDCs) in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) will be determined only by the government elected after the upcoming assembly polls.Speaking to reporters, CM Sarma stated, “Whether VCDC should be scrapped or not will be decided only by the government that forms here. BJP is not the enemy of anyone.” His remarks come amid rising political discussions in the BTC region, where the relevance and functioning of VCDCs have become key talking points ahead of elections.

The Chief Minister emphasized the BJP’s focus on inclusive politics and development in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Highlighting his political reach, Sarma detailed his connections with regional and national leaders, saying, “One phone call goes to Pramod Boro… another to Hagrama Mohilary… then to Amit Shah and the fourth to Congress. So tell me… how much more power does one need?” Sarma further underlined his influence, asserting, “I can call Amit Shah directly. I can call Congress too. In BTR, I can walk hand in hand with both Hagrama and Pramod. So what is the point of fighting me?” He noted that even opposition leaders appear to acknowledge his dominance in the region.

Earlier, on August 18, CM Sarma had pointed out that the Assam Congress has already accepted its impending defeat in the upcoming elections, further cementing the BJP’s position in the state’s political landscape.
