The city is set to witness a grand celebration of India’s rich textile heritage with the upcoming Special Handloom Expo. The National Design Centre (NDC) under the support of Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India organizing this special Expo at the Biswa Bangla Exhibition Centre, New Town, Kolkata, from 22nd to 28th October 2024. The expo timings are 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily.
This Special expo is a major marketing expo dedicated to traditional Indian handloom products from all over India. This expo will feature 75 handloom weavers, Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Co-Operative societies from across the country, showcasing the rich diversity of India’s textile heritage. This week-long exhibition will showcase enchanting weaves from across India produced by weavers, self-help groups, and cooperative societies. The visitors will be able to witness and grab wide range of traditional Indian handloom products directly from the producing weavers. The event aims to provide a platform for the weavers to connect with buyers, exporters, designers, and the general public, offering direct access to high-quality sarees, dress materials, home furnishings, Bed Linens, fabrics and many more.
With over 50 unique handloom weaves from different States of India on display, the Expo is expected to attract a large number of visitors, offering them a rare chance to purchase authentic handloom products directly from the producing weavers.
