The governor of Sikkim opens the Jorethang Maghey Mela Utsav

The Jorethang Maghey Mela Utsav, a traditional celebration that has been a pillar of Sikkim’s cultural and economic environment for decades, was formally opened by Governor Om Prakash Mathur. Diverse facets of society participated in large numbers at the magnificent event, which was planned with a blend of tradition and innovation. The way the festival was organized was praised by Governor Mathur in his inaugural address. “I have worked in several Indian states over the course of my career, but the work I have seen in Sikkim is just amazing. I express my gratitude to Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang for leading Sikkim to unprecedented levels of development and solidarity. I have never witnessed such a lively and inclusive event in my life,” he remarked.

The Governor praised the local oranges’ mela exhibition, emphasizing their potential for economic growth. Known for its deep cultural and economic significance, the Jorethang Maghey Mela Utsav gave local artists, businesspeople, and cultural performers a stage. Sikkim’s rich customs, economic potential, and people’s camaraderie were all on display at the event. In recognition of the Anganwadi workers’ crucial contribution in grassroots development, Governor Mathur also gave them regularization orders during the event. During his remarks, he thanked Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and the people of Sikkim for their steadfast dedication to the advancement of the state.
