Tezpur University’s Chandraprabha Saikiani Centre for Women Studies hosted a Freshers’ Program to greet the recently accepted students. Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh, the university’s vice chancellor, lit the lamp to mark the start of the new academic year for the entering students, and the program officially began. Professor Shambhu Nath Singh, the vice chancellor, welcomed the incoming students with open arms and stressed the value of women’s studies in forming a society based on justice, equality, and compassion.
He encouraged students to fully utilize Tezpur University’s academic and cultural offerings and to uphold Chandraprabha Saikiani’s principles via study, discussion, and community service. Dr. Madhurima Goswami, the center’s head, gave a heartfelt welcome to the new class and highlighted the legacy of Chandraprabha Saikiani, an Assamese social reformer and advocate for women’s emancipation. Throughout their academic careers, she urged pupils to embrace social responsibility, inclusivity, and critical thinking.
Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s songs were featured in the cultural part, which was followed by a traditional dance performance and a Xatriya dance, giving the occasion a rich taste of Assamese culture. The same day, Prof. Singh also spoke at the closing session of a five-day training that the Department of Commerce had organized on Excel and the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The goal of the program was to give Tezpur University students the fundamental knowledge and abilities they needed for research and data analysis.
The vice chancellor emphasized in his remarks the increasing significance of data analysis in academic and research endeavors, pointing out that programs like Excel and SPSS are now essential for generating significant and trustworthy research results.
