The National Textiles Ministers’ Conference 2026, organized by the Ministry of Textiles in collaboration with the Government of Assam, will commence on January 8 in Guwahati. The event, themed “India’s Textiles: Weaving Growth, Heritage & Innovation,” aims to gather Textile Ministers and senior officials from various states and union territories for discussions on critical issues such as policy, investment, sustainability, exports, infrastructure, and technological advancements in the textile sector. The Conference aligns with the Government’s vision of making India a global manufacturing hub in textiles by 2030, focusing on export enhancement, job creation, and inclusive growth under the slogan “Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi.”
Notable participants include Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh and Assam’s Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. The inaugural session will feature an Exhibition showcasing India’s textile strengths and heritage. Subsequent sessions will cover vital subjects like Infrastructure and Investment, Expanding Textile Exports, and the preservation of Handlooms and Handicrafts, emphasizing flagship initiatives like the PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks.The Conference will also host a conclave on “Strengthening and Empowering the Textiles Sector of the North-Eastern Region of India,” focusing on the region’s silk, handloom, and handicraft sectors, with an emphasis on women-led enterprises and market access. Ultimately, the Conference seeks to enhance collaboration between the Centre and States and establish a roadmap for a competitive, sustainable, and inclusive textile industry.
