Tetley, owned by Tata Consumer Products, is sharpening its focus on India’s expanding wellness beverage market by promoting the benefits of L-Carnitine-infused green tea as part of everyday weight management and healthy living routines. The company said L-Carnitine plays an important role in energy production by transporting long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they are utilised for fat metabolism and energy generation. The nutrient occurs naturally in dairy products and is also synthesised by the human body from the amino acids lysine and methionine.
According to scientific evidence cited by Tetley, L-Carnitine can support the utilisation of stored body fat when combined with a balanced diet and regular physical activity. The company said pairing the ingredient with green tea may complement daily wellness habits and support broader weight management goals. To capitalise on growing consumer demand for functional beverages, Tetley has incorporated added L-Carnitine into its Green Tea Slim Care range. The company said the product is designed for regular consumption, encouraging consistency through a familiar beverage format rather than positioning itself as a quick-fix weight-loss solution.
The strategy comes amid rising interest in health-focused drinks across urban markets. In Guwahati, demand for wellness beverages and functional nutrition products has been increasing as consumers seek convenient options aligned with fitness, weight management and preventive healthcare goals. Retailers in the city report growing interest in green tea variants offering additional health-supporting ingredients, reflecting a broader shift in consumer preferences toward everyday wellness products.
