Teachers use a creative assistance program to coach more than 2,000 Assamese children

The mentorship program has greatly enhanced the academic performance and well-being of almost 2,000 students at Assamese Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) by providing them with essential intellectual and emotional support. Initiated under the Guwahati regional office of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), the “Each One Reach One” initiative has concluded its first year with encouraging outcomes. Designed to address behavioral issues, mental health issues, and academic challenges, the program pairs teachers with children who have been recognized as needing extra support as committed mentors.

In contrast to conventional remedial education, this program offers support to students who are struggling with issues including anxiety, fear of a particular subject, attention problems, and challenging home situations. Currently operating in 42 KVs under the Guwahati region, 2,260 students were voluntarily mentored by 1,450 teachers during the 2024–2025 school year. Among these were 285 Class 12 pupils, who had a success percentage of 98.6%, and 183 Class 10 students, who got a 99.5% pass rate.

Students have been able to overcome emotional and developmental gaps thanks to the ‘Each One Reach One’ initiative, which was inspired by the National Education Policy 2020. The program is becoming more popular in other KVS regional offices, and future academic sessions should see it grow even further. For students dealing with a range of difficulties, the project seeks to establish safer and more adaptable learning settings.
