Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), in partnership with the Department of Electronics, IT & BT, Government of Karnataka, has announced the 27th edition of the TCS Rural IT Quiz, aimed at promoting technology awareness among students from smaller towns and districts across India.
The quiz, an integral part of Bengaluru Tech Summit 2026, is open to students of Classes 8 to 12, excluding schools located within city corporation limits. The competition will feature online tests, virtual quiz rounds and in-person competitions.
Recognised by the Limca Book of Records as India’s first IT quiz for rural students, the programme covers artificial intelligence, cloud computing, business and emerging technologies, along with applications of IT across sectors including banking, education, robotics, media, sports, gaming and entertainment.
Eight regional finals will be held, with winners advancing to the national finals in Bengaluru in November 2026. Regional winners and runners-up will receive gift vouchers worth Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000, respectively. The national winner and runner-up will also receive TCS education scholarships of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000.
Registrations are open until September 30, 2026. The previous edition saw more than 5.62 lakh participants from 28 states and two Union Territories.
Since its launch in 2000, the quiz has reached over 22.4 million students.
