Tata Steel has taken a major step in modernizing India’s construction sector with the launch of its first Mobile Bore Pile Cage Machine and the inauguration of a fully automated Construction Service Centre in Guwahati. Developed in partnership with TJK India, the mobile machine is designed for on-site reinforcement manufacturing, improving efficiency, reducing labor, and providing customized solutions for large-scale infrastructure projects across challenging terrains. The Guwahati Construction Service Centre, set up in collaboration with SM Corporation Ltd., has a production capacity of 2,000 tonnes per month. Initially, it will offer Tiscon ReadyBuild pre-engineered Cut & Bend Tata Tiscon TMT rebars with coupler threading, with plans to expand into Welded Wire Mesh and other downstream reinforcement solutions.
From a Guwahati market perspective, this facility is expected to strengthen local supply chains, ensuring faster availability of ready-to-use reinforcement products for housing, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Analysts say the move could boost the region’s construction sector, cut project lead times, and enhance cost efficiencies for developers and contractors.
Speaking at the launch, Ashish Anupam, Vice President – Long Products, Tata Steel, emphasized the company’s focus on innovation and value-added solutions for the North-East. The event also hosted over 100 AEC professionals, featuring insights on new road construction technologies by CSIR-CRRI’s Satish Pandey. This initiative adds to Tata Steel’s growing network of 31 digitally connected service centres nationwide, driving the adoption of automated reinforcement solutions and reinforcing the company’s leadership in India’s steel and construction sector.
