Tata Motors unveils 17 next-generation trucks, raises bar on safety, profitability and green mobility

Tata Motors has launched its next-generation portfolio of 17 trucks ranging from 7 to 55 tonnes, marking a major step in redefining India’s commercial vehicle landscape. The launch includes the all-new Azura series for the intermediate and light commercial vehicle segment, the Tata Trucks.ev electric range, and significant upgrades to the Prima, Signa and Ultra platforms. The new trucks are engineered to meet stringent European crash safety norms (ECE R29 03) and feature upgraded cabins with frontal, side and rollover protection. The company said the vehicles also come equipped with up to 23 advanced active safety technologies, along with real-time driving behaviour monitoring through its Fleet Edge digital platform.

A key highlight of the launch is the Azura series, powered by a new 3.6-litre diesel engine, offering improved performance, comfort and uptime across 7 to 19-tonne applications such as e-commerce, FMCG, construction materials and regional logistics. Tata Motors also announced payload improvements of up to 1.8 tonnes and fuel efficiency gains of up to 7% across select models.

Pushing green mobility, the Tata Trucks.ev portfolio introduces electric trucks and tippers based on the new I-MOEV architecture, covering urban, regional, mining and port operations. The launch is expected to benefit fleet operators, a key logistics hub for eastern and northeastern India. Demand for safer, fuel-efficient and electric trucks is rising in the region due to infrastructure expansion, port-linked cargo movement and growing e-commerce activity. The wider product range and lower operating costs are likely to attract transporters looking to modernise fleets and improve margins.
