It has won the tender of 200 electric buses, floated by Jammu Smart City Ltd, for Jammu and Srinagar. Tata Motors have entered into a strategic collaboration for the deployment of the electric buses in twin capital cities under Housing and Urban Development Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir to establish an environmentally, socially and financially sustainable network of public transport.
150 units of 9-metre and 50 units of 12-metre Star bus electric will be supplied as part of the contract, operate and maintain for a period of 12 years. Since 2019, This 40 electric buses have been plying in Jammu & Kashmir along with a cumulative supply of 715 across multiple cities in India, which clocked more than 40 million kilometres with an uptime of over 95%. It has already received orders for 1,500 electric buses from Delhi Transport Corporation, 1,180 from West Bengal Transport Corporation, 921 from Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation, facilities have steadily worked to engineer innovative mobility solutions powered by alternate fuel technology, including battery-electric, hybrid, CNG, LNG and Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology.
