Tata Motors secures record 70,000-vehicle order in Indonesia to boost rural logistics

PT Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia, a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Tata Motors Limited, has secured its largest international commercial vehicle order, signing an agreement to supply 70,000 vehicles for deployment across Indonesia. The fleet will support agricultural logistics, including farm-to-market transportation and regional goods movement aimed at strengthening rural connectivity and food supply chains.

Under the agreement, Tata Motors will supply 35,000 units each of the Tata Yodha pick-up and the Ultra T.7 truck to Indonesia’s state-owned enterprise PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara. The vehicles will be deployed through agricultural cooperatives under the Koperasi Desa and Kelurahan Merah Putih Project, a strategic national initiative focused on modernising supply chains, empowering rural cooperatives, and improving food security. Deliveries will take place in a phased rollout to ensure smooth operational integration. Commenting on the development, PT Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia Director Asif Shamim said the order highlights global confidence in Indian commercial vehicles and their reliability in diverse operating conditions. In Kolkata, large export order reflects growing global demand for Indian CV platforms. Dealers and logistics operators in eastern India expect the development to strengthen export-driven manufacturing momentum, potentially improving supply chain volumes
