Tata Motors launches Intra V40 to expand alternate fuel pickup portfolio

Tata Motors has launched the all-new Intra V40 pickup, strengthening its position in the alternate fuel small commercial vehicle (SCV) and pickup segment as demand grows for cost-efficient and flexible last-mile transport solutions. The Intra V40 comes with CNG-petrol bi-fuel technology and is designed for high-load operations. The vehicle offers a best-in-class payload capacity of 1,525 kg and a 2,960 mm (9.7 ft) load body, aimed at helping operators maximise earnings while ensuring uninterrupted operations across different routes. Powered by a 1.2-litre engine, the pickup delivers 58 bhp of power and 106 Nm of torque. It also features a 110-litre CNG tank to support extended driving range and operational flexibility.

The vehicle is built on Tata Motors’ proven platform and features a walk-through cabin, car-like driving dynamics, front disc brakes, and a hydroformed chassis designed to improve strength, stability and driver comfort during long working hours. Commenting on the launch, Pinaki Haldar, Vice President and Business Head – SCVPU, Tata Motors Ltd., said the shift towards alternate fuels in last-mile cargo transportation is accelerating due to lower operating costs and greater flexibility. He said the Intra V40 further strengthens the company’s bi-fuel range and reinforces its leadership in alternate fuel mobility.

In Kolkata, the launch is expected to attract small businesses, logistics operators and fleet owners seeking lower operating costs amid rising transportation demand in eastern India. The city’s expanding e-commerce, retail and distribution sectors could drive interest in bi-fuel commercial vehicles that offer higher payload capacity and fuel flexibility. With the addition of the Intra V40, Tata Motors now offers one of India’s widest bi-fuel commercial vehicle portfolios, alongside an expanding electric vehicle range. The vehicle is supported by Sampoorna Seva 2.0 and Fleet Edge telematics solutions for enhanced productivity, predictive maintenance and uptime optimisation.
