Tata Motors empowers women to drive socio-economic change

Tata Motors Samaj Vikas Kendra (SVK) is helping women in rural India master the skill of ‘Chikankari’ and organizes into groups for successful business ventures. Over 150 women have been engaged in SHGs and credit and thrift activities, mobilizing a remarkable Rs.25 lakhs over the past 16 years, demonstrating the transformative impact of the Tata Motors Samaj Vikas Kendra on women’s economic independence.

SVK established a training center for 15 villages’ women to equip them with necessary skills and market trends. In 2011, the SHG Federation program expanded to include new skills like jute bag, candle, herbal Gulal, cloth bags, and artificial jewellery production.
