Tata Motors has delivered Ultra EV air-conditioned electric buses to Jammu Smart City Limited, aiming to establish an environmentally sustainable public transportation system in the city. The buses, manufactured in India using advanced technology, feature advanced amenities and are powered by state-of-the-art electric power systems. The delivery is part of Tata Motors’ larger order to supply, maintain, and operate 100 electric buses in Srinagar and 100 in Jammu for a 12-year period for the Jammu and Srinagar Smart City projects. The buses are designed for safety, comfort, and convenience, offering reliable and zero-emission commuting solutions.
The fleet was officially flagged off by the Hon’ble Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, in the presence of the Hon’ble Minister of Heavy Industries, Dr. MahendraNath Pandey, and Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha.
Commenting on the occasion, Shri Rahul Yadav (IAS), CEO, Jammu Smart City Ltd, said, “Flagging off the Tata Motors’ electric bus is in line with Jammu Smart City’s commitment to reducing the carbon footprint and improving citizens’ quality of life.” Tata Motors has successfully delivered over 1,500 electric buses in India, with over 10 crore kilometers traveled and 95% uptime. The Tata Ultra EV revolutionizes urban commuting with its fully electric powertrain.
