Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles launches its flagship LPO 1822 bus chassis

Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles has launched its flagship intercity bus chassis, the Tata LPO 1822, setting a new benchmark for passenger comfort, performance, and operational efficiency. Designed with full-air suspension and low NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) levels, the LPO 1822 promises a fatigue-free journey for passengers and drivers, while flexible seating configurations—from 36 to 50-seaters and sleeper layouts—cater to diverse fleet requirements.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Anand S, Vice President and Head of Commercial Passenger Vehicle Business, highlighted that the new platform is tailored to meet evolving passenger expectations and growing intercity connectivity. Powered by a 5.6-litre Cummins diesel engine delivering 220hp and 925Nm torque, the chassis underpins the premium Tata Magna Coach and balances performance with fuel efficiency. Operators also gain a four-year complimentary subscription to Fleet Edge, Tata Motors’ connected vehicle platform for predictive maintenance, diagnostics, and fleet optimisation.

In Kolkata, where intercity travel demand is surging, fleet operators have expressed keen interest in the LPO 1822. Dealers report strong enquiries from private bus operators and corporate transport companies looking to upgrade their fleet for better comfort and reliability, signalling robust market adoption in the city. With a broad portfolio spanning 9–55-seater models and backed by Sampoorna Seva 2.0 and over 4,500 service touchpoints nationwide, Tata Motors reinforces its commitment to transforming India’s passenger transport ecosystem.
