TATA AIG urges monsoon vehicle preparedness with robust insurance solutions

As the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts heavy monsoon showers across the Northeast, TATA AIG General Insurance has urged vehicle owners in Gangtok and surrounding areas to adopt preventive care and secure comprehensive insurance coverage to tackle seasonal risks. Last year’s severe flooding left many vehicles damaged, underscoring the need for timely maintenance and adequate protection.

In anticipation of similar conditions this year, the company has introduced extensive monsoon-centric features within its motor insurance policies, including engine protection from water ingress, depreciation reimbursement, and emergency roadside assistance. TATA AIG’s plans also cover electric surge damage, minor part repairs to preserve No Claim Bonuses (NCBs), and offer access to over 10,000 garages nationwide.

In Gangtok, where narrow roads and unpredictable downpours often lead to breakdowns, residents are advised to stay proactive. Market observers note a steady increase in demand for reliable vehicle coverage. With commuters relying on cars and two-wheelers to navigate steep terrains, local insurance agents report a growing preference for policies with 24×7 support and towing services. “TATA AIG’s comprehensive coverage helps Sikkim drivers stay confident even in adverse weather,” said Neel Chheda, Chief Underwriting and Data Science Officer. The company maintains a 99% claim settlement ratio and over five crore customers since inception.
