TATA AIG launches ‘Accident Super Guard Plus’ amid rising road fatalities in India

TATA AIG General Insurance Company Limited on Tuesday announced the launch of ‘Accident Super Guard Plus’, a flexible personal accident insurance policy aimed at strengthening financial protection against accidental risks in India. The launch comes against the backdrop of rising road mishaps. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ Road Accidents in India – 2023 report, the country recorded 4.8 lakh road accidents and 1.73 lakh fatalities in 2023, marking a 4.18% rise in accidents and a 2.61% increase in deaths year-on-year. Nearly 68% of fatalities involved pedestrians, cyclists and two-wheeler riders.

The new policy covers accidental death, permanent total disability and permanent partial disability, along with reimbursement of in-patient hospitalisation expenses due to accidents, including defined pre- and post-hospitalisation cover. Optional benefits such as Loan Shield, EMI Protection and Pet Care are also available. The product includes future-focused benefits like child education support, academy sessions, surviving child benefits and marriage expense support, along with value-added services such as financial and legal counselling and disability management.

Available for individuals and families with tenure options up to five years, the policy offers premium discounts for salaried professionals. Speaking on the launch, Pankaj Shrivastava, Head, Agency Health, TATA AIG, said the product is designed to offer a flexible and scalable solution aligned to customers’ income profiles and evolving liabilities. In Guwahati, where two-wheelers dominate urban mobility and road safety remains a concern, insurance distributors say demand for affordable accident cover is steadily rising among salaried employees and small business owners seeking protection against income disruption.
