Tamil Nadu dominates IndiaSkills 2024 with highest participation

The IndiaSkills Competition 2024 is in full swing at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, showcasing an impressive display of talent and craftsmanship. Organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), this national event features around 900 participants from over 30 states and Union Territories competing across 61 trades.

Tamil Nadu has emerged as the frontrunner with 86 participants, closely followed by Odisha with 64. Other states with significant representation include Karnataka (61), Punjab (53), and Haryana (47). The event is not just a competition but a celebration of skills ranging from traditional crafts to cutting-edge technologies like Cloud Computing and Autonomous Mobile Robotics.The competition includes onsite and offsite events, with the latter held in Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat. Highlights include nine exhibition skills such as Drone Filming and Textile Weaving. Participants, including those from remote areas like Baramulla in Kashmir, are benefiting from the guidance of previous WorldSkills winners.

Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of MSDE, emphasized the competition’s role in promoting skill development and innovation. “IndiaSkills is more than a showcase; it’s a celebration of skill’s intrinsic worth in shaping our future,” he stated.The event also featured panel discussions on workforce empowerment and industry-academia partnerships, with contributions from leading companies and universities. Winners will prepare for the WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, France, in September 2024, aiming to bring medals in categories like automobile and hospitality.
