Swiggy has launched its Multi Restaurant Ordering feature, allowing customers to order food from up to five restaurants through a single checkout, as the food delivery platform seeks to offer greater convenience and flexibility during the festive season.
Announced on October 15, the feature enables users to build and compare multiple carts, select dishes across cuisines and make a single payment without repeating checkout processes, OTPs or payment flows. Customers can also track all orders on a shared screen, although each restaurant’s food is prepared and delivered independently.
The feature is designed to address differing food preferences among families and groups during gatherings, Diwali parties and long weekends. According to consumer research conducted by Swiggy, 55% of users build two carts in a single session, while one in five places a second order within 30 minutes of the first. The company said the new feature could help reduce the need for separate orders and associated platform fees.
SidharthBhakoo, chief business officer of Swiggy’s Food Marketplace, said the initiative brings the food court concept into homes, allowing customers to combine choices such as pizza, biryani, sushi and local street food in one transaction.
In Kolkata, market perspective, the feature could appeal to households and groups celebrating Durga Puja, Kali Puja and Diwali, where varied food preferences often drive multiple orders. However, its impact will depend on customer adoption, restaurant participation and delivery efficiency.
Swiggy said the feature is now available across more than 720 cities.
