Sushil Kumar was taken to the Chhatrasal Stadium early at 4 am on Tuesday in New Delhi by Delhi Police’s Crime Branch team as a part of investigation into the murder of a 23-year-old wrestler at the iconic venue and the crime scene was recreated.
This 2-time Olympic medalist was also taken to his Model Town residence for further investigation.
He was interrogated for close to 4 hours on Monday by the police after he was under police custody for 6 days. Sushil and his associate Ajay Kumar were arrested from Delhi’s Mundka area on Sunday morning for the alleged involvement in the murder of Sagar Rana, who passed away after a brawl at the Chattrasal Stadium on 4th May.
The crime branch of Delhi Police is investigating from every angle, and they are trying to find out if Sushil Kumar had any relations with gangsters, who may have helped Sushil before his arrest. The Crime Branch team is gathering evidence from the crime scene with the help of forensic experts.
During an interrogation, he said that he went there only to create a truce between the wrestlers, who were engaged in a brawl.
A senior official interogating Sushil has said that a weapon had been recovered from the vehicle that was found at the stadium which belonged to a man named Vinod, a close aide of the decorated wrestler.
Sushil and his associates have been accused of kidnaping Sagar from his house in Model Town to teach him a lesson for bad-mouthing him in front of other wrestlers, police said. Sushil, according to the police, even told a guy named Prince to make a video of the incident and wanted it to go viral in his community so that nobody else dares to offend the two-time Olympic medalist ever again.
Sushil had confessed to the Delhi Police on Sunday that he was present at the spot where the brawl took place and later went home to sleep.
