Sagar Rana’s bereaved parents have called for capital punishment to Sushil Kumar, urging the authorities to investigate the murder case involving the 2-time Olympic medalist properly. Sushil and his associates have been accused of murdering Sagar, a 23-year-old wrestler who used to train at the Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi. Sagar Rana’s parents are wary that Sushil Kumar will try to influence the investigation using his “political influence”. Sagar’s father Ashok has said that a court enquiry should also be conducted so that the political links of Sushil do not tamper with the police investigation. The late wrestler’s mother has lashed out at Sushil, saying he doesn’t deserve to be called a mentor.
The Special Cell of the Delhi Police arrested Sushil Kumar and co-accused Ajay from the Mundka area on Sunday morning, ending their 19-day search for the superstar athlete. Notably, Sushil and his associate were remanded to 6 days of police custody.
