Surge In Foreign Tourists’ Footfall In Kaziranga Since 2022-23

The Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve has recorded a significant rise in footfall, particularly foreign tourists, over the past four years during October to December. According to data provided by the park authorities on Sunday, the number of foreign tourists during the first three months of the visiting season leading up to the New Year has increased from 2947 in 2022-23 to 6699 in 2025-2026 (till December 27, 2025). In 2022-23 (October to December), the national park witnessed a footfall of 1,32,286 tourists (1,29,339 Indian tourists and 2949 foreign tourists) as against a footfall of 1,17,416 tourists (1,13,322 Indian and 4094 foreign) during the corresponding period of 2023-24. In 2024-25 (October to December), a total of 164636 tourists (158203 Indian and 6433 foreign) visited the park against a footfall of 146157 (139458 Indian and 6699 foreign) in 2025-26 (till December 27, 2025).
Notably, the Park, which is a renowned UNESCO World Heritage site in Assam, has seen a emerged as the third most visited national park in India.

Between October 1, 2024, and May 18, 2025, the park saw an impressive 4,43,636 visitors, marking a significant 35 percent rise in footfall compared to the previous year. Citing factors behind the surge, officials say that focus on protecting its famous one-horned rhinos and rich biodiversity and visits by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and dignitaries such as the King of Bhutan and other high-profile personalities have boosted the park’s global profile. Besides, upgraded infrastructure and strategic promotion across platforms have enhanced the visitor experience.
