Strong candidates, strong confidence: NDA’s game plan in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed strong confidence on October 25 that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will secure all five seats in the upcoming Assembly by-elections. “My best wishes to all five NDA candidates. I am confident that the people in these constituencies will decisively support us, and we will emerge victorious in all seats,” Sarma stated.

Among the prominent candidates, Deeptimoyee Choudhury, representing NDA in the Bongaigaon constituency, filed her nomination backed by key figures, including Minister Ranjit Kumar Das and ex-AGP President Atul Bora. Choudhury, wife of MP Phani Bhushan Choudhury, is set to face Congress rival Brajenjit Sinha in what is expected to be a high-stakes contest.

In Behali, BJP candidate Diganta Ghatowar will challenge Congress’s Jayanta Barah, while Nihar Ranjan Das is running in Dholai against Dhrubajyoti Purkayastha. Meanwhile, Samaguri’s race will feature BJP’s Diplu Ranjan Sarma against Congress’s Tanzil Hussain. Adding to the coalition’s efforts, the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) has nominated Nirmal Kumar Brahma for Sidli, whose candidacy has received enthusiastic community support.
