The Nagaon and Morigaon district administration are all set to conduct the by-election to Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency on Tuesday with about 19 lakh voters to decide the fate of 15 candidates.
Official sources said all aspects, including law and order and effective enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, have been reviewed in both election districts.
All necessary arrangements have been made for polling to be conducted from 7am to 5pm. Polling personnel have reached their respective polling stations along with their polling materials.
Of the 1902009 voters, 9,58,595 are male, 943364 are female while 50 are third gender voters.
Polling will be held across 2112 polling stations including five auxiliary polling stations in the constituency. Of these, five are model polling stations and 335 are polling stations managed by women.
Altogether, 9664 polling personnel have been detailed to ensure the smooth functioning of all the polling stations. Already, 86 micro-observers are on the job while 69 flying squad teams and 69 static surveillance teams have been working since the announcement of the bypoll.
Furthermore, the process of voting through postal ballots from home has already been completed for senior citizens aged above 85 years and voters with disabilities, identified in the electoral rolls, in accordance with Section 60(C) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
Webcasting facilities have been arranged at all the polling stations to ensure an effective monitoring system.
