The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)produced West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) former president Kalyanmoy Ganguly before a special court of the agency in connection with the Group-C recruitment scam in government schools on Friday, officials informed. Ganguly was called by the agency’s Kolkata office for questioning on Thursday and was arrested after finding evidence of non-cooperation.
He did not speak to reporters during the day when he entered the court premises. The agency had on May 20 booked five people, including Ganguly, in connection with the case.
It is alleged that the accused extended undue benefits to unqualified and unlisted candidates for the posts of Group-C staff in various schools in West Bengal in a criminal conspiracy. The arrest came nearly two months after former WBBSE president and former education minister Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for his alleged involvement in the scam.
