Sony LIV has unveiled the official trailer of its upcoming original series Jazz City, scheduled to premiere on March 19. Set in Calcutta of 1971, the show captures the city’s old-world charm amid a period marked by political unrest, social awakening, and shifting identities. Revolving around the atmosphere of a jazz club, the series blends music, mystery, and emotional conflict, exploring themes of loyalty, resistance, and the price of silence.
At the heart of the story is Jimmy, a man determined to remain distant from conflict until circumstances compel him to confront difficult choices where every decision carries consequences. The narrative raises a central question: when history demands courage, will he step forward?
Jazz City is created, written, and directed by SoumikSen and produced by Studio 9 and StudioNext. The series features ArifinShuvoo, SauraseniMaitra, ShantanuGhatak, Aniruddha Gupta, SayandeepSen, Shreya Bhattacharya, ShatafFigar, Alexandra Taylor, and AmitSaha in key roles.
In Kolkata, the series is expected to attract significant regional viewership due to its historical Calcutta setting, cultural nostalgia, and music-driven storytelling, which resonate strongly with audiences in eastern India’s growing OTT consumption market.
