Sony India has introduced the ILCE-7V, the fifth-generation Alpha 7 full-frame mirrorless camera, equipped with a newly developed partially stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor and the updated BIONZ XR2 processing engine. The company says the model brings major improvements in autofocus, subject recognition, and video capability, along with AI-assisted tracking and advanced real-time recognition.
The camera delivers up to 30% better autofocus accuracy, supported by 759 phase-detection points and nearly full-frame coverage. Sony also unveiled the FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II lens, which supports high-speed continuous shooting.
Sony India said the device is designed for professional and advanced creators who require speed, precision and advanced controls, especially in wildlife, events, commercial content and fast-moving environments. With new AI-based colour and auto white balance, the camera also supports improved video performance including 4K 60p and 4K 120p.
Local photography groups in Guwahati noted that demand for high-speed mirrorless systems has grown strongly in the Northeast, particularly among wildlife and documentary photographers working in Assam’s national parks and river basins. They expect the new model to attract buyers looking for professional speed without moving to cinema-class equipment.
