Actor Sonu Sood said he didn’t feel any pressure replacing Rannvijay Singha as the host on the upcoming season of the show “MTV Roadies”. Rannvijay was the winner of the show season in 2003 and was involved with the series for the last 18 years, either as a competitor, host or coach. He is no longer a part of the show for its 18th season, titled “MTV Roadies – Journey in South Africa”, where Sonu Sood makes his TV debut as a host, when Sood was asked if he felt the pressure of stepping into Singha’s shoes, the actor told, “Doing the show was one of my most special experiences of the last 20 years. I’ve done so many movies, travelled across the world, done so many stunts, but this was the most special one. There was no pressure at all.”
The show’s 18 seasons are set against South African locales and are filled with never-before-seen twists and turns. Sood said the show’s “magical” quality is that it makes one want to be “absolutely real”.
He connected very well with the contestants on the first day itself. To host the show he knew he had to be a roadie himself and feel what they were feeling. The team spent 45 days in South Africa. The latest season pits former roadies and debuting roadies against each other. The show is set to premiere on April 8.
