Sonowal releases ‘Abhravedi’ a book on Basab Chandra Kalita Hails role of Karmachari Parishad towards state’s development
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today released a book ‘Abhravedi’ on Basab Chandra Kalita, former President of Sodou Asom Karmachari Parishad at a programme held at Srimanta Sankaradeva International Auditorium at Sankaradeva Kalakshetra here today.
The book essentially contains the anecdotes of Basab Chandra Kalita’s works and experiences as the president of Sodou Asom Karmachari Parishad which he had been for 20 years.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal while paying rich tributes to the first martyr of Karmachari Parishad Late Dilip Chakrabarty for Assam Agitation, hailed the works and contribution of Karmachari Parishad. He said that Karmachari Parishad since it’s inception has been contributing immensely to stimulate development of the state. He at the same time urged upon the entire fraternity of Karmachari Parishad to work to promote the work culture of the state so that Assam can script an impressive success story of its development. He, however maintained that his government doesn’t want to impose anything on the employees as the passion, mission, vision should be imbibed by the employees among themselves to present the state a good work culture.
Stating the agenda of his government, Chief Minister Sonowal said that immediately after coming to power his government has taken steps for fulfilment of different clauses of the Assam Accord. He said it is because of the intense sincerity of the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, steps were taken for fulfilling clause VI of the Assam Accord. He also said that no previous government at the Centre had given due importance to Assam and North East. However the BJP led government led by the Prime Minister has termed North East as the Astalaxmi and organic hub of the region. He, therefore, called upon the larger fraternity of the state government employees to grab the opportunity and work to bolster the development of the state. He also said the multi model logistic hub set up at Jogighopa was one of the many steps taken by the Central government to stimulate the development of Assam. Sonowal also said that true to its promise the government at the Centre with help of the state has sealed the Indo-Bangla border including 64 km of riverine areas. Chief Minister Sonowal also thanked Karmachari Parishad for extending all cooperation to the State government for building an all inclusive development narrative. He also lauded Basab Chandra Kalita and wished him good health.

Parishad as the backbone of the state’s administrative machinery. He also hailed Karmachari Parishad for help and cooperation that it is extending to the government from time to time.
Stating that man is a rational animal which has distinguished man from all other living beings, Goswami called upon Karmachari Parishad to set good examples for the posterity to emulate.
The book release programme held synchronising with the Karmachari Swahid Divas was presided over by the president of Sodou Asom Karmachari Parishad Pradip Dutta. Former Additional Chief Secretary HS Das, former President of Sodou Asom Karmachari Parishad Pradip Bora also spoke on the occasion. The programme was attended by a host of dignitaries along with the past and present functionaries of Sodou Asom Karmachari Parishad.
