Bell-metal industry to play important role in building atmanirbhar Assam: CM
In a bid to promote local crafts and entrepreneurs of the State, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal presented a cheque of Rs. one crore to the Bell Metal Artisans & Trading Co-operative Society of Sarthebari in Barpeta district today. The Chief Minister handed over the financial assistance under “Chief Minister’s Local Entrepreneur Promotion Scheme”.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the bell-metal and brass artisans of Assam have set an example for self-employment in the State. The Government of Assam is committed to protect and promote the local crafts and entrepreneurs, he said adding that following the Prime Minister’s call for atmanirbhar Bharat, the State Government has also taken sincere efforts to make Assam economically self-reliant.
Moreover, the Chief Minister observed that the brass and bell-metal industry of Sarthabari would make significant contribution in realizing the goal of atmanirbhar Assam.
Water Resources Minister Keshav Mahanta, MLA Ashok Sarma, DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
