Prakash Raj is outspoken about his political views. The actor has been a vocal critic of the current central government and even contested the elections from Bengaluru in 2019. He tweets on daily basis on social and political issues but confesses that all this comes at a cost. His politics now began to influence his work and the relationships he built in the film industry over the years.
Talking about the impact of his political views on his work relationships, Prakash says, “It is affecting. Now, some people don’t work with me because they’re told not to. But they are worried that ‘they’ might not approve. I am powerful and rich enough to lose it all. I always feel my fear is someone’s strength.”
The actor said he doesn’t regret it one bit as he wants his succession to be more than just his screen work. “Now, I know who’s who. I feel more liberated because if I had not raised my voice, I would have died known as a good actor because of my role. But not because of who I am. But doing so comes with a cost. I can afford it,” he says.
The veteran actor admits that there are several stars who don’t speak up but he doesn’t speak against them. He said, “A lot of other actors are silent and I don’t blame them because they can’t bear it. They will be pushed and there’s no point in enduring them. They won’t survive. It’s not that they’re wrong.”
