The Smart India Hackathon 2023, organized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and the Institutions Innovation Council at Manipal Institute of Technology, began with a grand inauguration ceremony, attended by Lt General Dr. MD Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of MAHE, who delivered an inspiring address.
The Smart India Hackathon 2023 promises to be an exciting platform for young innovators to collaborate, ideate, and develop transformative solutions that address real-world challenges. MIT, as one of the nodal centers, remains at the forefront of fostering innovation and excellence in education, contributing to India’s development. Lt General Dr. Venkatesh acknowledged the potential of Indian youth to solve global issues and welcomed participants from various states to MIT for the Smart India Hackathon 2023. The event, focusing on innovative solutions to problem statements from the Ayush, Gujarat, and Kerala governments, will last five days.
Lt General Dr. MD Venkatesh highlighted the significant impact of Dr. TMA Pai’s 75-year-old educational institutions in addressing societal issues like illiteracy, poverty, and health. He emphasized that the United Nations’ 2017 sustainable development goals align with Pai’s vision. The region of South Canara, where these institutions were established, has seen significant progress in healthcare, low infant and maternal mortality rates, and high literacy rates.
