Skill trainers honoured with National Teachers’ Awards 2025, President Murmu leads felicitation

On Teachers’ Day, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the National Teachers’ Awards 2025 upon 15 distinguished skill trainers alongside educators from schools and higher education institutions. Organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE) at Vigyan Bhawan, the ceremony marked the third consecutive year that vocational trainers were recognised at this prestigious platform.

The awardees, representing ITIs, NSTIs, and other institutions, were applauded for their contributions in advancing vocational education through digital integration, women’s participation in non-traditional trades, inclusive training for persons with disabilities, and industry linkages. Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, said, “Our trainers are the true nation-builders guiding youth towards livelihoods and India’s vision of becoming the Skill Capital of the World.” On the eve of the event, Prime Minister NarendraModi interacted with the awardees and praised their role in shaping a skilled India.

In Guwahati, the recognition has spurred optimism in the local skilling ecosystem. With Assam emerging as a hub for ITIs and vocational institutes, industry experts noted that the awards will inspire more youth in Guwahati to pursue market-relevant training, strengthening both employment and entrepreneurship in the Northeast. A total of 81 educators, including school, higher education, and skill trainers, were honoured this year, reflecting the NEP 2020 vision of integrating skilling with mainstream education.
