Skill India celebrated the remarkable achievement of training 910 skilled carpenters who played a crucial role in the construction of the new state of the art parliament building, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on May 28th, 2023. The Skill India Mission has recognized and enhanced the expertise of skilled individuals through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme under PMKVY.
The Furniture and Fitting Skill Council of MSDE, NDMC, and NARSI Group conducted a comprehensive training for the carpenter community, honed their skills, and uplifted their livelihood. RPL training has been instrumental in creating world-class infrastructure for the new parliament, inspiring future endeavors.
RPL is a skill certification component of PMKVY that helps Indian youth secure a better livelihood by allowing them to register and get assessed and certified in unregulated sectors. Dr. Krishna Kumar Dwivedi, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) said, “This achievement is not only about creating an avant-garde design for our new parliament but has also enabled many individuals who can proudly say that they have become a part of the nation’s progress and its new identity”.
