Singtam murder case: Two people are being held after a government worker is killed in a fight at Lall Bazaar

Singtam Police have registered a murder case against two individuals following the death of 39-year-old government employee Dinesh Pradhan after a violent altercation at Lall Bazaar on Thursday night. The incident occurred around 7 PM when a heated dispute broke out between Pradhan and the two accused, Ishlam Sheikh and Jalal Sheikh, who run a meat shop in Singtam.

The quarrel quickly escalated, leaving Pradhan with serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Both accused have been arrested, and a case of murder has been filed under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Following the incident, a forensic team from Gangtok visited the scene to conduct a detailed investigation, examining the site and collecting crucial evidence to aid the ongoing case. Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal altercation.

In the aftermath, shopkeepers in Singtam Bazar partially shut down in solidarity with the victim, although the market remained open, according to Suresh Tamang, President of Singtam Nagar Panchayat. He expressed condolences and assured the public of a fair and thorough investigation. The Sikkim Newar Guthi also condemned the incident, demanding a proper and comprehensive inquiry to ensure justice for the victim.
