The state of Sikkim celebrated the first anniversary of Governor Om Prakash Mathur’s tenure with a grand event titled Utkarsh Utsav, commemorating a year of service marked by development, inclusivity, and people-centric outreach.
Reflecting on his journey as the 18th Governor of Sikkim, Mathur expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people and reaffirmed his commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth. “This year has been full of learning, inspiration, and meaningful connections,” he said, recalling his swearing-in at Raj Bhavan just a year ago.
Over the past year, Governor Mathur traversed the state—from high-altitude Donkela Pass to festive events like Maghey Mela in Jorethang—interacting with citizens from all walks of life. Key milestones during his tenure include his role in Sikkim’s Statehood Golden Jubilee, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra flag-off at Nathula, and the inauguration of Prerna Sthal in Bardang, a memorial for the victims of the 2023 flash floods.
He proudly cited electrification of Dichu village near the Doklam post as a symbol of inclusive development and praised the state’s commitment to cleanliness and ecological balance. The Governor also lauded Sikkimese women for their leadership and contributions in various sectors.
